Wheatley Group - Customer Scrutiny Panel
RESULT - What did you want to achieve and did you achieve it?
We wanted to achieve a more structured approach to scrutinising performance and to build skills. We achieved more than expected. Not only did it deliver a more structured approach and improved Scrutiny Panel statement, we could see how individuals have grown in confidence and developed a range of skills that they have used to advance things in their personal lives.
APPROACH - What approach did you take?
We introduced the Scrutiny Panel to Angela Howarth at Quality Scotland and worked on a flexible approach to the EFQM model.
DEPLOYMENT - How did you go about taking this approach forward?
By doing taster sessions exploring the principle of the model. Coaching sessions to build confidence allowing individuals to become comfortable with the framework. We then used practical examples of performance reports and applied the EFQM model.
ASSESSMENT & REFINEMENT - How did you review what you had done?
After each session we reviewed the Scrutiny Panels understand of the performance reports in line with the EFQM model and discussed what had been achieved and where they would highlight actions for improvement.
What are 2 or 3 key learning points you would like to share for the benefit of other members?
This is an excellent way to prepare and equip customers to genuinely scrutinise performance. It takes time to build confidence and develop individual and collective capacity. The rewards are tangible for both individuals and the organisation. It is an excellent way to deliver corporate and social responsibility.
“We achieved more than expected… This is an excellent way to prepare and equip customers to genuinely scrutinise performance.”
