Young Quality Scot Award

Recognising Active Citizenship

Young Quality Scot Award: Recognising Active Citizenship

Since 1995, The Young Quality Scot Award has recognised and rewarded young people who are involved in voluntary work in and across Scotland to improve the quality of life in their local communities.

To enter the programme award recipients are either nominated by organisations, other individuals or by self-application.

In choosing to be involved with the Young Quality Scot Awards, there are a number of benefits that arise from participation in the programme.

These include:

  • Recognition of achievement, shown on the award certificate and through local press coverage. This can be included in individuals Progress File.
  • Participation in a 2-day training event. The topics covered include teamwork, communication, leadership and presentation skills.
  • Participation in a national event, which encourages motivation, enables participants to develop positive attitudes and to meet other young people from all over Scotland.
  • Increased self-confidence, self-worth and self-esteem.
  • Participation in the awards should also assist employment and training opportunities.

What do Award Winners Receive?

Following the local training all award winners will be invited to a national recognition event which encourages motivation, enables participants to develop positive attitudes and an understanding of the Quality Scotland vision. This is an opportunity to find out what other young people in Scotland are doing to improve the quality of life for others in their community and create a shared sense of responsibility and ownership.

All award winners receive a certificate that acknowledges their voluntary achievement and can be used to assist with employment and training opportunities.
