Founded in 1989, the Scottish Quality Management Centre (SQMC) was initially a business systems think tank of the Stirling University Management Sciences faculty.
It became a commercial training provider under the guidance of its Director of Programmes, Ian Hannah – a Fellow of the Institute of Quality Assurance (the IQA; known today as the Chartered Quality Institute). Ian’s work gained SQMC formal Registration with the International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA), in London; and SQMC subsequently became the first Scottish training body to offer IRCA accredited Lead Auditor qualifications.
Today, SQMC Ltd is a privatised training centre, headquartered on Fife College’s Dunfermline campus. Their speciality remains Quality Management Systems training – particularly Auditing qualifications, for which they remain Approved by IRCA to provide.
